Ashleigh’s New Room

What does every little girl need?  A princess room of course!  I’m beginning to feel like I missed out on something!  Ashleigh is very lucky to have Aunt Beth & Uncle Roy who love to spoil her rotten!  There are days I’d love to switch rooms with her.  She can have the grown up bed, I want the butterfly chandelier and the pink and purple princess comforter!

The transformation began after her party, with new curtains, new bedding, a very cool butterfly chandelier, some new bins for the cubes and the closet, a new nightstand, an area rug, and a very pretty lamp.  Ashleigh was in heaven.  We used some Wonder Hangers in the closet to maximize the space.  I was thrilled when it was all done, as we finally could put everything away in it’s place and Ashleigh, well, she said, “I love my new room, it makes me feel like a Princess!”

Two weeks after the initial room re-do the final touch arrived.  The art table!  While Ashleigh was staying with Nana for the night Wes and I went and picked up the table and put it together.  While we were at Target picking up some other things I came across some crib bedding that coordinated nicely.  So, we picked up the bumper pad and sheet for the crib.  We’ll hang onto the old crib bedding and then we’ll have the option of keeping the girls together or giving Bekah her own themed room whenever we end up moving.

Ashleigh loves the new room.  She spends tons of time making crafts on her art table, she thinks the touch adjustment on her lamp is just the greatest thing ever, and she loves having her own special place.  She can’t wait to share the space with her little sister!

It was bound to happen….

Before Ashleigh was born Wes and I were the perfect parents.  Because, well, isn’t everyone who doesn’t have kids the expert?  After Ashleigh was born I was terrified of her finding her thumb, or even worse, taking to a pacifier.  I never wanted to be the parent of that child who was 3, taking their paci out to speak, and shoving it back in.  I was thrilled that she never seemed very interested in both.  Whew.  We made it through.  Until Rebekah came along and reminded me that while we liked to think we had it all figured out.  I assumed Rebekah would be just like Ashleigh.  They have the same genes, right?  Well…Rebekah has shown me time and time again that she is not Ashleigh and I just refuse to learn.  Guess this is how she is going to prove it to me…

Please, God, don’t let her suck her thumb until she’s 3 please? While I hate to admit, I kind of think this thumb sucking thing is cute, I dread having to “make” her stop!  So, if it could be a short lived thing, that would really be best…

Happy Easter!

I took advantage of the season….I made my girls dress up and tortured them with photos!  Terrible mommy…

Rebekah wasn’t a big fan of smiling, but we tried….

Hope your Easter is filled with time with those who are important in your life!

Spring Flowers…

Last Sunday we officially started spring around here….We bought some pansies, impatients, ornamental grass, and some seeds and lettuce for the vegetable garden. Ashleigh and I spent the afternoon planting the window boxes while Bekah hung out in the swing. Bekah celebrated her 3 month birthday with a fun day in the sun.

Ashleigh LOVED picking out the flowers and planting them as well. We bought the pansies because she loved them so much. She picked out which ones we would get. She was adorable, so I took the chance to get some cute photos of the girls…
