What I missed….
Since I promised to update you on what I missed here it goes.
We bought a new car I think I covered that.
The next day Ashleigh and I headed to NJ for my Jason’s Baptism. Jason is a brother to Nicolette both of whom are 3rd cousins to Ashleigh. Their mother Becki and I are 2nd cousins, and Becki’s mom Beth is my Dad’s first cousin. So now that you had your Geneology lesson We had a lovely time. Ashleigh and I very much enjoyed our first long trip in the new car. I loved seeing Ashleigh actually interact with all of the other kids. She had a blast playing with all of the girls. They played ring-around-the-rosie and were even found playing house. Ashleigh was sad to go home, but such is life. It was a nice afternoon, I enjoyed the visit with the family. We didn’t get to Christmas last year because of the Jetta : -( It looks like we’ll probably miss the celebrations this year too with the arrival time of this little one but we’ll just have to see what happens on that one.
Here are some photos from the Baptism
We’ve been spending a lot of time with our friends Hillary and Neil (Owen and Blake’s parents) over the past few weeks. The day we found out that I was indeed pregnant, Hillary and Neil found out they will be having their 3rd. I am thrilled to have a friend to go through this pregnancy with. I was very fortunate to have several friends to share my last pregnancy with and I was a little disappointed to be going solo this time. While Hillary and Neil were getting used to the idea of 3 kids under 4, I was rejoicing to have someone to share in my morning sickness, fatigue, back pain, etc. We had been going for walks together until the fatigue and sickness hit us hard. But, we are motivated to keep each other on track to stay healthy this pregnancy. And it will be wonderful to have babies so close together. We’re due a week apart! Here are some photos of the kids having fun together. I know that adding 2 more will just make it more fun for all of them.
About 2 weeks ago Hillary and I headed downtown for lunch (a secret shop, so I get reimbursed. yay!) and then we walked across the harbor and took the kids to the Science Center. We were given a membership for Christmas and hadn’t had a chance to get there yet. Actually, I guess I should back track a day .The day before we went to lunch I was feeling awful. I was supposed to be meeting a friend at Storyville at our local library. It’s like a miniature town for the kids. It reminds me of something you would see in a Children’s Museum. I went despite feeling awful, and Ashleigh had a great time. When we got home I just had to go to bed. Wes and Sherrin to Ashleigh to the Science Center to get the membership squared away. Ashleigh came home talking all about the Science Center. Wes even picked up pizza for dinner. It was wonderful to have an afternoon off to really nap and relax. I felt much better after a good nap.
So, the next day Hillary and I decided to put the membership to good use. We took the kids to the Science Center, and decided to check out the kids area first, since Wes and Ashleigh and Nana hadn’t made it there the previous day. We figured we’d start there and then move on. Well, the kids had such a blast, we never left the kid’s area. We started walking around and they found the water area. All three kids were having a blast. Splashing, trying to drink the water, playing with the buckets and small boats, floating the boats down the river .Yeah. It was a blast! Once they had enough water they found some other fun stuff to play with. Ashleigh enjoyed a few minutes with the train set. They had Thomas. She has a lot of train track and cars, but Thomas is one car she doesn’t have. She was quite excited to play with Thomas.
We then headed off to the boat. The top level is a ship, with a steering wheel, a fishing area, and an area to weigh the fish you catch. They eventually headed down to the submarine part of the boat. There were two video games that you could lay on and swim through the ocean. Ashleigh managed to discover the hidden treasure. She also had fun playing with the levers and gears that controlled the sub.
After that got old we found the perfect mommy spot. It’s designed for kids who are more Blake’s age (crawling, but not yet walking), but Hillary and I sure took advantage. The older two enjoyed playing with the blocks and balls, and Hillary and I enjoyed laying in the waterbed lagoon. What else would two pregnant women do after hours with three kids? Of course we find the most comfortable place to relax before we have to convince them that it’s time to go home. Unfortunately it was getting too far past nap time, and we had to get out of the city before we hit traffic. Hillary had come to pick us up that morning because Wes had appointments and meetings all day, so she just took us back to their house and Wes came to have dinner with us after he was done with work for the day. Here are the photos from the Science Center and the kids playing afterwards.
This past Sunday we went to church as usual, and after church there was a cook out. We had a great time, the kids had a blast. Well, minus Ashleigh getting hit in the head with a Frisbee and falling down quite a few times. After one fall, Wes had Ashleigh calmed down and all of a sudden she started screaming again. He was a little annoyed until he actually HEARD what she was saying. She was shouting, Owen!! LOOK! Owen!! Her friend Owen had found the ladder which had been used to get a frisbee off the roof of the church. He managed to climb up the ladder with no one noticing! There had to be at least 20 adults in the same field playing with sports equipment of some nature. Once Ashleigh alerted them to the location of Owen he was on the top rung of this ladder, trying to climb over and come down the other side! They managed to convince him to stay put while Neil (his dad) headed up to get him. Luckily they both arrived on the ground safe and sound. We have some photos of all of the kids playing. They all had such a great time.
It’s been a great couple of weeks. There has been lots of stuff going on and lots of fun. We’re very excited for what the rest of the summer has to bring. For now, we’re trying to enjoy the time we have left as a family of three, and prepare to be a family of 4. We are all quite excited to be adding a new member to the family. I think I’ll add another post with Ashleigh’s thoughts on the new baby ¦.
