…But he’s going to miss his family!!!!

I’m a week late on this one, but I had to make sure we shared this story. Last Monday you could tell it was January by the gym parking lot. All 3 lots were full, and we ended up parking in the doctor’s office parking lot next door. On the way out Ashleigh asked to pick up a rock from the parking lot. She likes collecting rocks. Wes told her no rock, but when I wasn’t looking she grabbed one. We got in the car and headed home. We got about a mile from the gym when she starts SCREAMING, “Oh no!!!! His FAMILY!! His FAMILY!!!! He misses his Mommy and his Daddy! Oh no! He needs his Mommy!!!!” This child is crying, in hysterics. It took us a minute to figure out what was going on. Ashleigh then informed us that we needed to go take the rock back to his family because he misses his Mommy and Daddy. We tried to tell her that she could take it back tomorrow, that he would come have a “sleep over” at our house. Anything to calm her down. We of course, are trying our hardest not to laugh, while she is in tears.

We were pretty sure her hunger had something to do with the crying and over emotional drama, so even though we had already said no Chick-fil-a for dinner, Wes offered to take us to Chick-fil-a, hoping it would calm her down. A trip to Target and the dinner from Chick-fil-a did the trick. She was much happier with some food her in her belly. Tuesday we were able to get a good spot at the gym, so no rocks. By Wendesday she had forgotten about him. Well, Thursday came around and as we got into the car to come home from the gym, she saw some rocks on the ground next to the car. I hear a, “Look Mommy! It’s my rock’s Mommy and Daddy! He misses his family!” I started to panic, but then I saw the rock on the floor of the car. I handed Ashleigh the rock, and she gently placed him with his “Mommy and Daddy.” She was so proud of herself. She was gently petting the rocks saying, “You’re welcome! You’re welcome little rock!” She told me over and over again how the little rock was saying thank you to her. We will be driving down 95 and she can see the doctor’s office building from the highway (the one that’s behind our gym) and she’lll say, “Mommy! My rock is saying thank you! Oh you’re welcome little rock! You’re welcome!”

She is so funny and always has us laughing. I just loved this story. It had us laughing so hard, but it just shows how caring she really is. I think 3 will be a fun age. As soon as she stops whining. ;-)
