Thanksgiving!!
We have so much to be thankful for. I don’t even know where to start.
We had such a fantastic Thanksgiving. I guess it started on Wednesday. Ashleigh and I did some cleaning, lit some pumpkin scented candles, did a craft project, and after we had dinner, she and I baked some pies! We were planning on seeing Wes’s side of the family Thanksgiving morning for brunch, so we had to get as much ready before hand as we could.
I asked Ashleigh and Wes if they’d prefer pecan pie or pumpkin pie, and no one could give me an answer. Ashleigh said pecan and pumpkin. I liked her reasoning, so we made a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie! Luckily, I found a pie plate that hadn’t gotten unpacked yet. Turns out most of my serving dishes had not gotten unpacked, since I only use most of them in the winter for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and we moved in at Christmas last year, they never got unpacked. As a result we had our gravy in a ramekin instead of a gravy boat, because I just didn’t have the energy to tackle the basement to find a gravy boat!
We ended up staying home for brunch because the cold Ashleigh had was not improving, and she had a fever. We decided it was best to not share her germs. Before dinner Ashleigh wanted to play outside, and since it was nearly 70 degrees here (unreal, didn’t it snow last Thanksgiving?) she was able to go play. Wes took her out with her bike while I cleaned up from breakfast. She rode her bike up and down the street. You can find some photos in the Thanksgiving 2007 gallery.
We had a delicious turkey, mashed potatoes and corn (Wes’s FAVORITE), rolls, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and of course, pie! It was a great excuse to get out the good china. I love using it, though we never seem to thave the occasion
Ashleigh enjoyed her Veggie Tales plate. While Ashleigh didn’t like the pumpkin pie, and wouldn’t try the pecan pie, she LOVED the whipped cream. Cream, as she calls it, is her new favorite dessert. If I gave her a bowl and a spoon she would eat it all! Yup, that’s my kid.
Friday we did some shopping. Since we joined the gym in September my pants have gotten larger and larger. I was tired of constantly pulling my jeans up because they were falling off, so we took advantage of the sale JC Penny had on jeans and Wes and I each got two new pairs. I’m just so excited that mine are a size smaller! I’m PRAYING they’re too big by Christmas
. After some Black Friday window shopping we came home to relax. We went out to dinner with Wes’s side of the family at The Eastern House in Baltimore. It was a cute, diner looking restaurant with great food! We never knew it was there, and it’s only a mile or so from the medical campus where Wes works! We may have to go there more often!
We had a lovely evening with the family and extended family. Ashleigh had a blast being miss social and running all around like a nut. It was nice to see her warm up and break out of her shell a little and play with EVERYONE! She loved playing with Aunt Beth’s doggies, and all of their toys. She had a rough morning after being out so late, but after we got home from Gymboree and the gym she had a nice three hour nap to make up for it!
We hope your Thanksgiving weekend was as great as ours was. I am very excited for Christmas, and I can’t wait to start decorating!
