Yoga

Since we joined the gym, I have made it a habit to get to one class a week, plus 3 in gym work outs. I figure this will keep things different, keep it exciting, and keep my body guessing ;-) I attended a Power Yoga class a few weeks ago. For those of you not familiar, Power Yoga is like Yoga on Speed. The moves are faster and more intense. I was actually dripping in sweat by the end of the class, and felt worn out, yet energized. Well, the winter class schedule doesn’t allow me to get to a Power Yoga class (they’re all during non-childcare hours). I have been experimenting with a few other Yoga/Pilates based classes that are faster paced and focused on core-strengtheing. But, I just miss that relaxation I got from Yoga. Now that you have the history of my work outs you don’t care about…. ;-) I decided to check out FitTV (channel 368 for those with DirectTV) today. I had enjoyed a few of their shows before we joined the gym, but I kept forgetting to go back and do the work outs regularly. I realized today that they have Yoga on at 9:30, 12:30, and 6:30. So, at 12:30 I hit the button on the TIVO and decided to record Namaste Yoga. During our afternoon play time Ashleigh and I watched Yoga. We moved the coffee table to the side, and we did Yoga. She had a BLAST. She did her version of Warrior, Triangle, and Bridge. It was sooo cute!

After dinner she asked to exercise again. I asked her if she would like to do Yoga again and she just junped up and down screaming to do yoga. We went upstairs so I could put on appropriate pants. I had already tried Yoga in jeans. BAD idea! She was so excited to tell Wes that we were going to do Yoga. I was hoping he could capture a video of her doing yoga, but he is in bed sick. So, he is not coming near us ;-) I did get some photos of Ashleigh in her various yoga poses. Enjoy!

Thanksgiving!!

We have so much to be thankful for. I don’t even know where to start.

We had such a fantastic Thanksgiving. I guess it started on Wednesday. Ashleigh and I did some cleaning, lit some pumpkin scented candles, did a craft project, and after we had dinner, she and I baked some pies! We were planning on seeing Wes’s side of the family Thanksgiving morning for brunch, so we had to get as much ready before hand as we could.

I asked Ashleigh and Wes if they’d prefer pecan pie or pumpkin pie, and no one could give me an answer. Ashleigh said pecan and pumpkin. I liked her reasoning, so we made a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie! Luckily, I found a pie plate that hadn’t gotten unpacked yet. Turns out most of my serving dishes had not gotten unpacked, since I only use most of them in the winter for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and we moved in at Christmas last year, they never got unpacked. As a result we had our gravy in a ramekin instead of a gravy boat, because I just didn’t have the energy to tackle the basement to find a gravy boat!

We ended up staying home for brunch because the cold Ashleigh had was not improving, and she had a fever. We decided it was best to not share her germs. Before dinner Ashleigh wanted to play outside, and since it was nearly 70 degrees here (unreal, didn’t it snow last Thanksgiving?) she was able to go play. Wes took her out with her bike while I cleaned up from breakfast. She rode her bike up and down the street. You can find some photos in the Thanksgiving 2007 gallery.

We had a delicious turkey, mashed potatoes and corn (Wes’s FAVORITE), rolls, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and of course, pie! It was a great excuse to get out the good china. I love using it, though we never seem to thave the occasion ;-) Ashleigh enjoyed her Veggie Tales plate. While Ashleigh didn’t like the pumpkin pie, and wouldn’t try the pecan pie, she LOVED the whipped cream. Cream, as she calls it, is her new favorite dessert. If I gave her a bowl and a spoon she would eat it all! Yup, that’s my kid.

Friday we did some shopping. Since we joined the gym in September my pants have gotten larger and larger. I was tired of constantly pulling my jeans up because they were falling off, so we took advantage of the sale JC Penny had on jeans and Wes and I each got two new pairs. I’m just so excited that mine are a size smaller! I’m PRAYING they’re too big by Christmas :-D . After some Black Friday window shopping we came home to relax. We went out to dinner with Wes’s side of the family at The Eastern House in Baltimore. It was a cute, diner looking restaurant with great food! We never knew it was there, and it’s only a mile or so from the medical campus where Wes works! We may have to go there more often!

We had a lovely evening with the family and extended family. Ashleigh had a blast being miss social and running all around like a nut. It was nice to see her warm up and break out of her shell a little and play with EVERYONE! She loved playing with Aunt Beth’s doggies, and all of their toys. She had a rough morning after being out so late, but after we got home from Gymboree and the gym she had a nice three hour nap to make up for it!

We hope your Thanksgiving weekend was as great as ours was. I am very excited for Christmas, and I can’t wait to start decorating!

Here are some photos, of us baking the pies and Ashleigh playing…

A little Elfin fun!

So maybe I had a little too much fun while Wes was putting Ashleigh down for her post turkey nap, er, well, I think Ashleigh put Wes down for a nap, since he’s asleep and she’s sitting here on my lap…But anyway, I found this…what fun!

Chuck E Cheese

We were invited to a freind’s birthday party Tuesday night. It was a Chuck E Cheese! The kids had a blast. Ashleigh was too shy to talk to the other kids, but she enjoyed playing on the rides and even tried skeeball! She loves watching the characters dance on stage, and she enjoyed her pizza and Sprite. Lucky kid!

For those of you on the Linda side of the family, you should recognize some of the kids….Most of the 6 you would know look SOOOO much like their parents it’s frightening. I guess the same can be said for Ashleigh, but since we see her everyday we don’t notice. It was quite obvious to me which kids were Globus’s, and which three were Ben and Sarah’s and which three were Bob & Allison’s!

Let’s go to a restaurant!

We left church last night, and unfortunately it was not the 2nd or 4th Sunday of the month. So there was no pizza. We all get sad when there is no pizza after church ;-)

We got in the car to leave and Ashleigh started asking for macaroni and cheese. This has been her staple food recently. Every meal, she asks for macaroni and cheese. The conversation went like this–

A: I want Macaroni and Cheese!

W: I don’t know where to go to get you Macaroni and Cheese…

A: We can go to the RESTAURANT!

W: Well, I guess we could….

Wes and I just started laughing. It was so funny to hear her suggest going to a restaurant for macaroni and cheese. She was pretty disappointed when we ended up at the food store so I could buy milk to make macaroni and cheese for her, but she enjoyed her homemade mac and cheese with chicken nuggets dinner. Ashleigh’s two favorite foods on one plate, I think she was in heaven.
